Hepatitis C affects everyone differently, but it typically moves through these three stages:
Incubation Period

How Does Hepatitis C Spread?
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne virus, i.e., it only spreads when the blood of an infected person enters another person’s bloodstream.
Sharing Equipment
Most cases happen through sharing needles or other equipment used for injecting drugs.
Unregulated Procedures
Tattoos, piercings, or medical procedures done with non-sterile tools can spread the virus.
Personal Items
While rare, sharing razors, toothbrushes, or nail clippers that may have trace amounts of blood on them can pose a risk.
Birth
An infected mother may pass the virus to her baby during childbirth.
Note: You cannot catch Hepatitis C from hugging, kissing, or sharing food and water.
