Delivered by an expert Consultant Hepatologist.
Get a complete check of your liver health with a private Liver MOT in Birmingham. Delivered through a consultant-led hepatology service, we combine advanced FibroScan technology, blood testing, and expert clinical assessment to give you clear answers about your liver health in one visit.

Our Lead Consultant Hepatologist explains the ‘silent’ nature of liver disease, how the FibroScan works, and why early detection is critical for reversing liver damage.
A specialist FibroScan (transient elastography) is the gold-standard, non-invasive method for accurately assessing your liver health without needles, radiation, or sedation.
It uses low-frequency sound waves to measure both liver stiffness (scarring/fibrosis) and liver fat content (steatosis/CAP score) simultaneously.
It samples 1/500th of the liver, testing 100 times more tissue than a traditional liver biopsy.
Takes only 5–10 minutes to complete with zero recovery time.
Provides instant data that your Consultant Hepatologist interprets on the exact same day.

We provide a detailed, consultant-led assessment focused on your liver health, including your medical history, lifestyle factors, and risk profile. This helps identify early signs of liver conditions such as fatty liver disease (MASLD), alcohol-related damage, and metabolic liver issues.

The complete Liver MOT package revolves around advanced technology and extensive pathology that goes far beyond standard GP checks.
Measures exact kilopascals (kPa) for stiffness and decibels per metre (dB/m) for fat content, allowing us to grade your liver health from F0 (Healthy) to F4 (Cirrhosis).
Taken during the exact same visit, this extensive panel includes Full Liver Function Tests (LFTs, GGT, ALP, bilirubin, albumin), Hepatitis B & C serology, Fasting glucose & HbA1c, and a Full lipid profile.
Unlike other clinics that offer basic technician-led scans, your assessment is conducted and interpreted directly by a Consultant Hepatologist with a PhD in liver diseases.
Following your assessment, you will receive a tailored plan based on your results. This includes lifestyle recommendations, medical guidance, monitoring intervals, or further treatment referral.
This proactive diagnostic service is highly recommended for health-conscious individuals wanting a proactive check-up, as well as anyone with the following risk factors:
Metabolically associated steatotic liver disease is the most common liver condition in the UK. A FibroScan tells you whether fat in your liver is causing scarring and how urgently you need to act.
If you drink alcohol regularly, a FibroScan can detect silent liver damage before symptoms appear. This gives you the crucial chance to reverse the damage before it becomes irreversible.
This scan is essential for monitoring liver scarring in chronic viral hepatitis. It accurately guides decisions on antiviral treatments and surveillance programmes for liver cancer.
Both conditions carry a significantly elevated risk of liver disease. Many patients are entirely unaware their liver is already being damaged, making the FibroScan a vital early warning system.
If your GP has noticed raised or abnormal liver enzymes, a FibroScan helps determine whether the cause is structural liver damage and clearly guides the next steps in your investigation.
Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), and autoimmune hepatitis all cause progressive fibrosis. The scan provides non-invasive staging and helps monitor disease progression over time.
Certain medications, including methotrexate, can cause liver fibrosis with prolonged use. A FibroScan is the highly recommended monitoring tool outlined in national guidelines for these patients.
If a close relative has had cirrhosis, liver cancer, or a hereditary liver condition (such as haemochromatosis or Wilson's disease), a baseline scan gives essential reassurance or early detection.
Even without a specific concern, a FibroScan is an excellent part of a comprehensive health MOT. Around 1 in 3 adults has some degree of fatty liver, and most simply do not know it.
Your results are explained clearly during the same appointment, giving you a full understanding of your liver health.
Because your scan is consultant-led, there is no anxious wait. Your Consultant reviews the stiffness and fat scores immediately, providing a personalised management plan, lifestyle guidance, and clear next steps on the very same day. A formal written report follows within 48 hours.
An all-inclusive package designed for complete peace of mind. Includes:
For patients who only require the diagnostic scan and immediate interpretation, without the full blood panel and extended consultation.
We believe proactive healthcare should be accessible. We accept all major credit and debit cards, PayPal, and Klarna (which offers a “Pay in 3” interest-free instalment option).
Note: Any required blood tests, stool tests, breath tests, or endoscopy scans are charged separately. Your doctor will clearly explain these costs during your visit to ensure full transparency.

A FibroScan (transient elastography) is a specialised, non-invasive ultrasound device. It sends a gentle sound wave through your liver to measure its stiffness (which indicates scarring or fibrosis) and its fat levels. It tests 100 times more tissue than a biopsy, and is completely painless.
We ask patients to fast for at least 3 hours before their appointment. Eating a meal increases blood flow to the liver, which can temporarily elevate the liver stiffness reading and reduce scan accuracy. Drinking water is perfectly fine.
Not at all. The FibroScan is completely painless and requires no sedation or needles. You will simply feel a gentle vibration or pulse on your skin during the 5–10 minute assessment.
No. You can book our Liver Health MOT directly for peace of mind or proactive screening without waiting for an NHS referral.
Not always. A FibroScan can detect physical damage, scarring, and fat accumulation in the liver much earlier than standard liver blood tests begin to show abnormalities. Our complete Liver MOT combines both for the most accurate picture.
The liver is an incredible organ that can heal itself if caught early. If your scan shows early-stage damage (like mild fibrosis or steatosis), our Consultant will provide a tailored management plan to help halt or reverse the condition before it progresses.
