Your hormones quietly shape how you feel every day: your energy, mood, weight, sleep and sex drive. As you get older, these levels can drift out of balance, and plenty of people simply put up with it as ‘part of ageing’. It doesn’t have to be that way. At House of Health in Birmingham, our consultant-led hormone optimisation and longevity service helps men and women feel like themselves again.

At House of Health, we know how much a hormone imbalance can take over your life. Whether it comes from the menopause, the andropause (the male equivalent), an underactive thyroid or a metabolic problem, the result feels the same: you stop feeling like yourself.
Standard care often aims only to keep you ‘within the normal range’. Our Birmingham clinic also lets you skip the long NHS queue and get clear, data-led answers straightaway.
We give you unhurried, in-depth consultations. Your consultant reviews your symptoms, energy levels, diet, and full health history before making any recommendations.
We use highly accurate panels to measure your sex hormones, thyroid function and key metabolic markers, so we build a complete picture of your health.
Where you need it, your consultant prescribes evidence-based treatments such as bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) or testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to restore your balance safely.
Balancing your hormones is only the start. We add tailored lifestyle and nutrition support to protect your long-term healthspan, energy and physical performance.

We don’t just offer a quick chat. We carry out in-depth clinical assessments to protect both your physical and mental sharpness as you age. We look into concerns such as these:
You sleep a full night but still wake up tired, or you hit a wall every afternoon. Low energy like this often points to a sluggish thyroid or falling sex hormones.
The weight creeps on, especially around your middle, and nothing you try seems to shift it. It can signal insulin resistance, raised cortisol, or dropping testosterone and oestrogen.
You lose your train of thought, forget names, or struggle to concentrate. Your hormones help protect your brain and keep your mind sharp, so that a dip can cloud your thinking.
You feel irritable, low or anxious for no clear reason. These shifts often track with the hormonal changes of perimenopause, menopause or andropause.
You lose muscle, recover slowly after exercise, or pick up new aches in your joints. Low testosterone and growth hormone levels usually lie behind this.
You lie awake at night, wake in a sweat, or stir again and again. Imbalances in cortisol, melatonin and oestrogen often disturb your sleep.
We rely on high-precision testing to determine exactly what’s happening in your endocrine system.
We test your sex hormones (testosterone, oestrogen, progesterone), your full thyroid function (TSH, Free T3, Free T4), and your key metabolic markers in a single detailed panel.
We map your stress-hormone pattern across the day to spot adrenal fatigue and help reset your natural body clock.
We check your lipids, homocysteine and inflammatory markers such as hs-CRP to protect your heart and keep inflammation low.
We measure key levels such as vitamin D, B12, iron, and magnesium, all of which your body needs for cellular energy and healthy hormone production.
You complete a comprehensive symptom and lifestyle questionnaire, and by the time you get to see your consultant, he will have heard your tale already. We give you detailed instructions weeks before your appointment.
Your consultant takes the time to understand when your symptoms started, what triggers them and what you want to achieve. We never rush you.
Our clinical team takes your blood samples in the clinic. We send them to our premium partner laboratory for accurate, advanced profiling, which gives us a complete baseline of your health.
Once your results come back, your consultant builds a plan around them. It might include HRT, TRT, targeted supplements, or specific metabolic and lifestyle changes.
Optimisation is an ongoing process. We track your progress with regular reviews and repeat blood tests, so your hormone levels stay balanced, safe and effective over the long term.
Clinical assessment, symptom evaluation, and individualised diagnostics with our Consultant.
Advanced blood testing covering your sex hormones, thyroid and vital metabolic markers.
A review of your test results, confirmation of your diagnosis and the start of your bespoke hormone protocol.
Ongoing medical management, prescription processing and specialist monitoring.
Note: We charge separately for any comprehensive imaging or private HRT/TRT prescriptions. Your doctor will explain these costs clearly during your visit, so you always know where you stand.

MRCP (Medicine) · MRCP (Endocrinology)
Dr Sobia Arshad leads hormone and endocrine care at House of Health. As a consultant endocrinologist, she helps both men and women with hormone imbalances. She looks after the menopause and perimenopause, the slow fall in testosterone that many men notice with age, thyroid problems, and metabolic issues such as insulin resistance and stubborn weight gain.
Dr Arshad earned two MRCP qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians, one in general medicine and one in endocrinology and trained across the full range of hormone conditions. Alongside her work at House of Health, she practises privately at The Sloane Hospital and works as an NHS consultant at King’s College Hospital. She also helps men who want to manage their testosterone safely, including those who have used performance-enhancing medications.
Her approach is straightforward. She uses detailed blood tests to identify the cause of your symptoms, explains the results in plain terms, and recommends safe, evidence-based treatment with regular monitoring.

CEO and Co-Founder of House of Health · Qualified Clinical Trichologist
Dr Anita Raja co-founded House of Health and brings more than ten years of experience as an NHS GP. She has a special interest in women’s health, the menopause, and longevity, with a focus on preventive care that helps people feel and function well for longer.
Dr Raja supports women through perimenopause and menopause, including hormone replacement therapy (HRT) where it is suitable. Her interest in longevity and lifestyle medicine means she looks at the whole picture: your energy, sleep, mood and daily habits, not just your hormone levels.
A well-known voice in public health, Dr Raja regularly appears on the BBC, ITV and Sky News to explain health topics clearly and simply. She brings the same easy-to-follow approach to every consultation.

Your hormones and your metabolism are closely linked to what you eat, and that is where Dr Pooja Dhir comes in. As a specialist dietitian, she provides the nutrition and weight-management support that sits at the heart of a longevity-focused plan.
Dr Dhir has a strong background in clinical research and weight management, and she has published in respected journals including BMJ Open and Obesity Reviews. She turns that evidence into clear, practical advice, building eating and lifestyle plans that are realistic and easy to keep up.
She has shared her expertise at major international conferences and on BBC Radio and TalkTV. Before suggesting any changes, she takes time to understand each person’s routine, culture and goals.
Hormone optimisation is a proactive way of looking after your health. Instead of waiting for illness and treating it only when it appears, we fine-tune your hormone levels so you feel and function at your best. The aim is to extend your ‘healthspan’, the number of healthy, active years you enjoy.
Not at all. We support plenty of women through perimenopause and menopause, but men go through their own gradual decline in testosterone, known as the andropause. We assess and treat both men and women.
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is very safe when administered by professionals after a thorough diagnosis of your hormone levels and constant monitoring of those levels through our follow-up visits.
Yes, when the consultant does it correctly. Your doctor diagnoses low testosterone through a series of blood tests, prescribes the correct dosage, and continuously monitors your blood levels throughout treatment.
Many people feel better within the first few weeks, with improvements in sleep, energy and mood. Changes to your metabolism and body composition usually take a few months of steady optimisation.
It can play a big part. Problems with thyroid, insulin, cortisol, or other hormones can make it difficult to lose weight. When these hormone imbalances are treated, and the right diet, lifestyle changes, or weight-loss treatments are added, many people find it easier to lose weight.
